Money can significantly boost happiness for those lacking basic needs like shelter and food, but its impact decreases beyond a certain income level.

 

Research shows that more money doesn’t necessarily mean more happiness once basic needs are met. Maslow’s hierarchy of needs demonstrates the diminishing return on happiness with increased wealth.

 

Two types of happiness exist: extrinsic (material wealth and status) and intrinsic (personal growth, passion, relationships) – with intrinsic happiness leading to long-lasting joy.
